Use of Technology:
Technology is integrated in the classroom and the curriculum in a variety of ways. The computers are used for doing homework on Study Island, checking Progress Book, typing up Word documents, researching on the internet, learning programs/games, and other programs/websites. The teacher uses the Smartboard technology for lessons. Students use calculators and other tools for various learning tasks. As far as the school’s accessible technology, light sensors help conserve energy and save money. Technology contributes to the new heating/cooling system being used. Smart boards are available in most of the rooms for instruction (i.e. video demonstrations, lecture notes, learning programs, model examples of tasks, research demonstrations, etc.). There are multiple computer labs as well. Teachers all have their own computers to enter /calculate/submit grades, research data, record/submit attendance, email students’ parents/faculty/administration, and software/video use. Most rooms include printers. Televisions are available for Channel 1 programs in the classroom, as well as for video and/or lesson demonstrations. Cameras provide security as the video surveillance keeps behavior issues at a minimum within the building and assists in providing a safer environment in general. Offices are equipped with computers and telephone lines; the phone lines also carry into the classroom so that teachers may call staff members and administration. Offices and library are equipped with copy machines, fax machines, and printers; a couple lamination machines also available. The technology allows the school access to beneficial resources, and enhances student/staff learning environments.
