EDS 6610 Methods, Materials, and Curriculum--it was a class full of ideas, learning strategies, resources, and more! The class offered much insight into the world of education. I acquired skills and knowledge on various aspects for teaching in the classroom. I learned about new effective tools and strategies that will assist my teaching technique. I enhanced related abilities, such as communicating, collaborating, planning, assessing, and more!
I obtained new ideas, content-specific strategies, and general classroom management methods. I learned more about how to teach students with disabilities or ESL students. I taught planned, taught, and assess lessons for an individual with Down Syndrome that cannot read and write. I learned much from that rewarding experience. The smile on his face said it all! I will remember the lessons I learned from teaching him.
I also participated in brainstorming with peers on classroom content. We reached task goals and shared with the whole class. I gained new perspective from my peers. I reflected on ideas demonstrated in the class textbook, which also increased my knowledge and skills. I gained hands-on experience in creating a website, and immensely increased my technological skills. I connected with context throughout the course, and will integrate my learning in the classroom to influence others.
I planned an Integrated and Differentiated Unit which I can refer to in my future teaching career. In addition to the knowledge taught to me, I gained influence from my instructor that will remain with me and guide my teaching in the future as she has set a great example for me to follow through her instruction. I am called to be the most effective teacher that I can be, using the best choices of methods, materials, and curriculum available. I am called to action to use the knowledge that I have obtained in this course to improve my teaching. I feel that my overall teaching skills have improved greatly throughout the course of this class. I feel better prepared for the educational path that lies ahead.
